Research Assistant in Sustainability and Circular Economy Management (PhD Holder)

Part Time

Job Function

To provide advanced research support for the project by leading data management and statistical/qualitative analysis, and by supporting publication-ready outputs (manuscripts, conference papers, and journal submissions), ensuring high methodological rigor and alignment with the Oman context.

Responsibilities

A. Research Design & Instruments

Support the PI in refining the conceptual framework, hypotheses, and operational definitions (digital culture, KM, sustainability, circular economy outcomes).

Assist in developing/adapting measurement scales and survey instruments; ensure clarity, content validity, and cultural appropriateness for Oman.

Prepare pilot testing plan and analyze pilot results to improve instrument reliability/validity.

 

B. Data Collection & Management

1. Develop data collection protocols (survey/interviews/focus groups), sampling strategy, and fieldwork coordination.

2. Clean, code, and structure datasets; handle missing data, outliers, and normality checks using best practices.

3. Maintain secure data storage, documentation, and version control (codebook, variable dictionary, analysis logs).

 

C. Quantitative Analysis

4. Conduct descriptive statistics, reliability and validity testing (Cronbach’s alpha, CR/AVE, HTMT, etc.).

5. Execute advanced modeling as required (e.g., regression, mediation/moderation, SEM, PLS-SEM or CB-SEM).

6. Provide interpretation of results and convert outputs into publishable tables/figures.

 

D. Qualitative / Mixed-Methods (if applicable)

7. Transcribe, code, and analyze qualitative data (thematic analysis) using NVivo/Atlas.ti (or equivalent).

8. Integrate qualitative insights with quantitative findings for mixed-methods triangulation and stronger narratives.

 

E. Publication & Dissemination Support

9. Draft and/or substantially support sections of manuscripts (methods, results, discussion) under PI direction.

10. Format manuscripts to target journal requirements; ensure APA 7 referencing and compliance with ethical reporting standards.

11. Support journal submission processes: cover letters, response-to-reviewers documents, revision tracking, and resubmissions.

12. Assist with conference abstracts, posters, presentations, and policy briefs related to Oman’s sustainability agenda.

 

F. Project Coordination & Quality Assurance

13. Prepare progress reports, timelines, and internal documentation for deliverables and milestones.

14. Ensure research ethics compliance (consent forms, anonymization) and support IRB/ethics documentation if needed.

15. Maintain high-quality research standards, transparency, and reproducibility (analysis scripts, annotated outputs).

16. Strong research methods foundation (quantitative required; mixed-methods preferred).

Experience

• Demonstrated research experience in empirical studies (quantitative).

• Proven ability to conduct advanced data analysis for academic research (preferably SEM/regression/mediation–moderation).

• Prior involvement in academic publication processes (e.g., drafting methods/results, formatting manuscripts, responding to reviewers).

 

Skills

Data Analysis & Methods

Strong competence in SEM (PLS-SEM/CB-SEM) and related techniques (mediation/moderation, multi-group analysis).

Proficiency in SPSS/Stata/R/Python (at least one strongly), plus Excel for data handling.

Experience with SmartPLS / AMOS / LISREL (as applicable).

Ability to produce clean, publication-ready tables/figures and interpret results clearly.

Publication & Academic Writing

Strong academic writing skills in English; ability to align outputs with top journal standards.

Familiarity with APA 7, plagiarism/similarity checks, and ethical research reporting.

Ability to support systematic literature review elements (screening, synthesis) is a plus.

Project & Communication

Excellent organization, confidentiality, and time management.

Strong coordination skills with stakeholders (participants, institutions, research team).

Professional communication and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Qualification

PhD in Management or a closely related field (e.g., Business Administration, Information Systems, Accounting/finance, Business Analytics, Sustainability Management, Public Policy, or Economics).
