Job Function

The Senior Facilities Engineer is responsible for supporting the effective operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the University’s physical infrastructure and utilities. The role ensures that all facilities, engineering systems, and building services operate efficiently, safely, and in alignment with the University’s operational requirements and sustainability goals.

The position also supports the planning, coordination, and execution of infrastructure development and improvement projects, ensuring that projects are delivered in accordance with approved specifications, quality standards, budgets, and timelines.

Responsibilities

  1. Facilities Operations and Maintenance
  2. Oversee and coordinate maintenance and repair activities for campus buildings including classrooms, laboratories, offices, student facilities, common areas, and dormitories.
  3. Ensure that preventive and corrective maintenance activities are properly planned, implemented, and documented.
  4. Monitor the performance and reliability of building services systems including electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, and related infrastructure.
  5. Conduct periodic reviews of the preventive maintenance program and recommend improvements to enhance system reliability and operational efficiency.
  6. Ensure that maintenance works are carried out safely, efficiently, and within approved budgets.
  7. Support the preparation and monitoring of annual maintenance plans and budgets.
  8. Utilities and Energy Management
  9. Monitor and manage campus utility consumption including electricity and water to ensure efficient usage.
  10. Review and verify monthly utility bills and coordinate with relevant departments to ensure timely processing and payment.
  11. Monitor and analyze energy consumption trends and recommend energy conservation and cost reduction initiatives.
  12. Develop and implement energy efficiency and sustainability initiatives across campus facilities.
  13. Oversee the operation and performance monitoring of the university Solar Power Plant including energy production, consumption, maintenance, and reporting.
  14. Project Management and Development 
  15. Assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of facilities-related projects including renovations, infrastructure upgrades, and new installations.
  16. Support the Head of Technical Services in managing construction and engineering projects to ensure compliance with approved scope, specifications, schedules, and budgets.
  17. Review project drawings, technical submissions, and contractor documentation to ensure compliance with university requirements.
  18. Participate in project meetings, site inspections, and progress monitoring activities to ensure proper project implementation.

Experience

3 – 5 years of relevant experience in Facilities Management, Building services engineering, and project management

Experience in managing facilities projects or engineering upgrades is preferred.

Skills

  1. Ability to plan preventive and corrective maintenance.
  2. Work independently and under pressure.
  3. Possess good interpersonal skills. 
  4. Excellent communication and computer skills including AutoCAD. 
  5. Fluent in both Arabic & English.

Qualification

Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering / mechanical engineering from an Accredited University.
