Job Function

Establishes and maintains network performance and security systems (including access control, IP telephony, PA systems, and CCTV, Etc.. ) by configuring, connecting, and troubleshooting hardware and software components

Responsibilities

  1. Design and establish a stable networking environment by defining system configurations, directing installations, and enforcing system standards through comprehensive documentation.
  2. Optimize network performance by monitoring system activity, troubleshooting issues, scheduling upgrades, and collaborating with network architects on improvements.
  3. Enhance network security by implementing and enforcing access control policies and continuously monitoring user access and system vulnerabilities.
  4. Contribute to the achievement of the University IT objectives by delivering assigned tasks and outcomes aligned with its mission.
  5. Design and implement robust Local Area Networks (LAN) and Wide Area Networks (WAN) to support institutional needs.
  6. Assist in the planning, deployment, and upgrade of network and security infrastructures, particularly for campus expansion projects.
  7. Proactively identify potential communication and networking issues and implement preventive measures.
  8. Maintain comprehensive documentation of network and security systems, including diagrams, asset inventories, and configuration backups.
  9. Troubleshoot and resolve various LAN and WAN issues effectively and efficiently.
  10. Address and resolve network-related user issues, such as shared printer configurations and LAN access for new users.
  11. Configure and manage networking devices such as firewalls, routers, switches, modems, and wireless access points.
  12. Monitor and maintain WAN and LAN connections, including ADSL and leased line circuits.
  13. Monitoring and managing the university's antivirus system to ensure effective protection against malware, viruses, and other security threats.
  14. Diagnose and resolve network, system, and application issues to ensure smooth operation.
  15. Investigate user-reported networking problems, identify root causes, test possible solutions, and implement effective fixes.
  16. Coordinate and perform software and application installations and updates for all systems within the network and security scope.
  17. Plan and implement network security measures, including firewall configuration, cryptographic controls, host security, file permissions, backup/recovery plans, and system integrity checks.
  18. Deliver training to key personnel and end-users on the use of relevant networking hardware and systems.
  19. Ensure users are promptly notified of planned maintenance activities and potential impacts on system availability.
  20. Maintain strict confidentiality of information processed, stored, or accessed through the network infrastructure.
  21. Provide support for audiovisual systems, VoIP telephony, and other IP-based technologies as required.
  22. Monitor, managing, maintain and provide technical support for the Public Address (PA) system.
  23. Monitor, managing, maintain, and support the CCTV surveillance system.
  24. Manage and support the access control system to ensure secure entry and exit processes.
  25. Perform any other related duties and responsibilities as assigned by the line manager in accordance with evolving university needs.

Experience

3 years Full time in Network. 

Skills

  1. Excellent technical problem solving skills, including identifying and addressing performance problems, system defects, network issues, etc.
  2. Proficiency in handling network devices like switches , firewalls and  Antivirus system.
  3. knowledge of structured cabling, OFC laying etc.
  4. Proven technical knowledge of desktop and server hardware.
  5. Strong IT skills.
  6. Fluent in English and Arabic.

Qualification

  1. Bachelor degree from an accredited university in IT or Computer Science or related field.
  2. Certification in Network courses will be preferred.
