Job Function

To conduct sampling of hematological data from SQUH system
The Research Assistant will be responsible for data collection from SQU hospital system samples of immature reticulocyte fractions from the analyzer. This role supports the project’s objectives to differentiate between different microcytic hypo chromic anemias
 

Responsibilities

o Collect hematological samples of 150 patients of different types of microcytic hypo chromic anemias (iron deficiency, thalassemia, anemia of chronic disease)
o To assist the Principal Investigator (PI) of the project in achieving the aims and goals of the research, including:
o Participate in the field collection of patient data from SQUH system
o Filter out data into different classes of microcytic anemia based on the criteria and lab results. Help in the documentation required for research reports.
o  Support laboratory staff in sample processing if required.
 

Experience

o Minimum 1 year of experience in fieldwork.
o experience in Hematology Laboratory operations within a high-volume clinical laboratory.
o Competent in inventory management, reagent monitoring, documentation, and ensuring uninterrupted laboratory operations.
o Experienced in laboratory data collection, audit analysis, and quality improvement activities to support operational and performance excellence.

Skills

o An ability to develop and maintain a research program and to publish in international journals.
o Excellent background in hematology laboratory techniques.
o Competence in IT skills
o Self-motivation with minimal supervision.
o Ability to show leadership in outreach activities.
 

Qualification

Bachelor's degree in biomedical science, hematology.
