Job Function

The Dean of Research, Innovation, and Postgraduate Studies shall provide strategic and operational leadership of the university's research, innovation, consultancy, and postgraduate studies functions, fostering a culture of excellence, advancing research impact and innovation, enhancing postgraduate education, and strengthening the university's national and international reputation in support of its mission and strategic objectives.

Responsibilities

The Dean of Research, Innovation, and Postgraduate Studies shall: • Develop, implement, and periodically review policies, regulations, governance frameworks, strategic plans, and performance indicators for research, innovation, and postgraduate studies, in alignment with the university's strategic objectives and ensuring compliance with national regulations, quality assurance requirements, ethical standards, and research integrity principles. • Administer and oversee research funding, grants, and sponsored projects, including proposal evaluation, award administration, project monitoring, financial oversight, and impact assessment; and establish frameworks for research data management, performance analytics, benchmarking, and institutional reporting to support evidence-based decision-making and continuous improvement. • Promote and enhance the quality, productivity, visibility, and impact of the university's research and scholarly output, including publications, citations, patents, and other research outcomes. • Foster innovation, entrepreneurship, intellectual property protection, technology transfer, commercialization, consultancy, and industry engagement. • Establish and strengthen strategic partnerships and collaborations with national and international universities, research institutions, industry, government entities, and funding agencies. • Plan, regulate, and oversee postgraduate academic programs, admissions, supervision, thesis examination, academic regulations, and quality assurance; and develop capacity-building, professional development, and research training programs for faculty, researchers, and postgraduate students. • Lead institutional research events, academic and research mobility programs, and community engagement initiatives to promote research collaboration, knowledge exchange, and institutional visibility. • Coordinate with relevant governmental authorities, regulatory bodies, funding agencies, research institutions, and the University's campuses, colleges, and administrative units to ensure compliance, alignment, and effective implementation of policies, regulations, and initiatives related to research, innovation, and postgraduate studies; and perform any other duties assigned by ADVCAAR consistent with the nature and scope of the position.

Experience

Minimum of ten years in higher education, with at least three years in senior leadership.

• Strategic planning, policy development, performance management, and evidence-based decision-making supported by research analytics and reporting • Knowledge of research governance, funding administration, quality assurance, regulatory compliance, and research integrity • Research, innovation, intellectual property, technology transfer, and commercialization • Postgraduate studies management, research supervision, and academic and researcher development • Leadership, stakeholder engagement, partnership development, and communication skills • Proficiency in data management systems, research information platforms, and administrative tools

Qualification

PhD in an academic field, from an accredited university, with a minimum rank of Associate Professor.
