1. Prepare laboratories, equipment, instruments, chemicals, specimens, and other materials required for practical sessions and laboratory activities.
2. Set up, operate, calibrate, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment and instruments as required.
3. Provide technical support to academic staff during laboratory practical sessions and assist students in the safe and correct use of laboratory equipment, instruments, and laboratory procedures.
4. Contribute to teaching and learning activities by assisting in laboratory demonstrations, supervising practical sessions, and supporting the assessment and grading of students' practical work, laboratory reports, and related activities, as assigned.
5. Maintain laboratory equipment and instruments through routine cleaning, preventive maintenance, and coordination of repairs, while managing laboratory inventory including consumables, chemicals, reagents, and specimens, and keeping required maintenance and stock records.
6. Ensure safe handling, storage, and security of laboratory materials, chemicals, and biological specimens, and comply with laboratory health, safety, biosafety, and relevant institutional regulations.
7. Maintain accurate laboratory records, equipment maintenance logs, inventory records, and other required documentation.
8. Stay updated with relevant laboratory techniques, instrumentation, and technological developments to support teaching and laboratory operations.
9. Ensure that all laboratory experiments and practical activities are conducted in accordance with health, safety, and institutional regulations.
10. Perform any other duties assigned by the Line Manager, Head of Department, or Dean.
