The Research, Innovation, and Technology Transfer Center (RITTC) at A’Sharqiyah University (ASU) aims to become a leading hub for research management and development, contributing to capacity building and innovation promotion to support the realization of Oman Vision 2040. RITTC seeks to enhance the research-innovation-technology transfer nexus through applied research that fosters national and international socio-economic development.
The Senior Innovation and Technology Transfer Specialist will oversee and manage the center’s innovation and technology transfer initiatives, working closely with stakeholders to advance intellectual property (IP) development, industry engagement, and commercialization efforts. The position requires expertise in innovation management, IP policies, and technology transfer processes to enhance the impact of ASU’s research and innovation outputs.
The Senior Innovation and Technology Transfer Specialist shall be responsible for or assist in the following:
• Managing the technology transfer activities, including IP management, product licensing, and technology commercialization activities.
• Developing and implementing strategies for ideation, prototyping, and innovation management in alignment with national priorities.
• Supporting faculty, researchers, and students in identifying commercialization opportunities for research outputs.
• Facilitating partnerships with industry, government, and other stakeholders to foster technology transfer and innovation-driven collaborations.
• Overseeing the patenting process, including invention disclosures, prior art searches, and filing patents in coordination with legal advisors.
• Establishing and managing incubation programs to nurture startups and spin-offs originating from ASU’s research.
• Organizing workshops, training sessions, and seminars on innovation, entrepreneurship, and IP management.
• Monitoring and evaluating the progress of incubated projects, ensuring alignment with market and industry needs.
• Building and maintaining a database of ASU’s innovations, technologies, and IP portfolio.
• Promoting ASU’s innovation and technology transfer achievements through reports, presentations, and media outreach.
• Coordinating with local, regional, and international innovation hubs and technology transfer networks to benchmark best practices.
• Collaborating with the Public Relations and Media Department for media coverage of technology transfer and innovation activities.
• Providing data and insights for accreditation, ranking platforms, and funding opportunities.
• Contributing in preparing the annual operational plan and annual report for the RITTC.
• Advising the RITTC director on innovation and technology transfer-related policies, strategies, and opportunities.
• Undertaking any other tasks as directed by the RITTC director in support of ASU’s innovation and technology transfer objectives.
• Research management experience is an added advantage.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in innovation management, technology transfer, or a related field.
• Experience in managing IP and commercialization processes.
• Proven track record of industry engagement and fostering academia-industry collaborations.

A Bachelor’s Degree in Technology Management, Innovation Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field where English is the medium of instruction
