Job Function
The DVCAAR is the Chief Academic Officer. He is responsible for University-wide policy and strategy related to academic affairs and research.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership in all academic and research matters, while promoting innovation and enterprise activities.
- Initiate, participate in, and supervise strategic, operational, and academic planning for the units under their line of reporting.
- Oversee academic program reviews and the development of curricula.
- Supervise the implementation of faculty professional development plans.
- Oversee the academic promotion process for faculty.
- Supervise the preparation of staffing and resource requirements for academic and research units.
- Supervise the recruitment and appointment of faculty members and academic support staff under their line of reporting.
Perform any other duties assigned by the VC.
Experience
A minimum of ten years’ experience in an academic environment or equivalent, including at least five years in a senior academic administrative position.
Skills
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage teams effectively.
- Proven ability to inspire and lead initiatives that deliver transformational education, a high-quality student experience, and internationally recognized research.
- Demonstrated ability to translate strategic goals into actionable plans and deliver measurable outcomes.
In-depth knowledge and experience in institutional and academic program accreditation processes.
Qualification
A PhD in an academic field from an accredited university, with a minimum academic rank of Associate Professor.
