Job Function
Veterinarian will be responsible for diagnosing and treating animals who are sick, injured or need routine care. Their duties include giving advice to humans on how to properly care for their pets, administering medication and performing surgery on animals.
Responsibilities
Examine animals and check their health status.
- Diagnose illnesses and determine the best treatment.
- Dress wounds of injured animals
- Perform dental, ophthalmic, and orthopedic surgeries
- Vaccinate animals to prevent diseases
- Spay and neuter cats and dogs as needed
- Prescribe medication
- Advise animal owners on nutrition, preventive healthcare, and general care.
- Assist students during the practical.
- Update Clinic records.
Contribution to External Engagement
- To be involved in activities to raise the regional, national and international profile of the College and indeed the University.
- To forge advantageous relationships with key local and national bodies, organizations and companies.
Other related activities and functions
- To carry out specific College roles and functions as may be reasonably required.
- To engage in training programs and continuous professional development which is consistent with the needs and aspirations of the College.
- To take part in and manage, if required, staff seminars or more cross-college activities, functions, and events such as Open days, student recruitment events, etc.
- To diligently support quality assurance and enhancement measures within the College and the University.
To undertake any such duties as may be reasonably requested that are commensurate with the nature and grade of the post.
